The Dog Who Loved Everyone She Met
Luna
2010 — 2023· 13 yrs
Luna arrived as a puppy the size of a butternut squash, with oversized paws and an enthusiasm that never once dimmed. For thirteen years she was the center of gravity in the Brennan household — the one who greeted strangers at the door as if they were long-lost friends, who pressed her warm weight against whoever was sad, who somehow always knew. She survived two cross-country moves, a new baby, three cats, and countless stolen sandwiches without an ounce of shame. Luna's beach — the one in Carmel where she ran loops at low tide every summer — still feels like her place. She left paw prints on the floors, on the furniture, and on every person who had the luck to know her.
“She didn't just love us. She taught us what love looks like.”

Their Story
Who They Were
Who They Were
Luna arrived as a ten-week-old puppy who could fit in the crook of your elbow, and immediately decided she owned the house. For fourteen years she was the first one up in the morning, the first at the door when you came home, and the last to leave a sunny spot on the living room floor. She had an uncanny sense for when someone was sad — she would appear without being called and rest her head in your lap until you felt better.
How They Joined the Family
Luna came home with the Chen family in 2010. From day one she was inseparable from the children — Maya and Leo grew up with her as a constant companion and confidante. She was their first real experience of unconditional love.
Favorite Things & Habits
Luna loved tennis balls, swimming in Lake Union on summer mornings, and sitting next to whoever was cooking in the kitchen. She could distinguish the sound of her leash from any other metal sound in the house and would appear instantly. She slept at the foot of the bed every night for fourteen years.
What Made Them Special
Gentle, joyful, and utterly without guile. Luna greeted everyone — strangers, delivery drivers, other dogs — as if they were the best thing that had happened to her all day. She made the world feel like a friendlier place just by being in it.
Their Final Days
Luna slowed down gradually in her last year but remained curious and sweet until the very end. She passed at home in the spring of 2024, surrounded by the family she had loved her entire life.
Memory Wall
3 memoriesLuna knew when I was sad before I did. She would climb up next to me on the couch and just stay there, quietly. The best therapist I ever had.
Maya Chen
Family
She stole my sandwich at the park once and then looked so guilty I could not even be mad. We laughed about it for years. That was very Luna.
Leo Chen
Family
I have never met a dog who loved everyone so equally. She made our whole street feel like a community. We all miss her.
